Vintage go five points clear at the halfway point in the league

It is the halfway point in the Craigavon District Darts League sponsored by Bailie Amusements and it looks a one horse race as Vintage Bar moved five points clear after coming from 3-1 down to win the last four matches to beat Eire Og 5-3.

Sam Frazer won the first match beating Brian McCavigan 2-0 then Paul Callaghan beat Conor Mallon 2-0 to put Eire Og two up. The next match brought two unbeaten players head to head when James Bolton met Paul McGahan and it James who came out on top winning 2-0 with the assist of 2x100’s to pull a game back for the leaders. Micky Dunwoodie had a good 2-1 win over Dee Blaney (120,100) who won his leg in 18 darts to stretch the lead but from then on in it was all the Vintage.

Oliver Toland hit 3x100’s as he beat Dermy McStay 2-0. John Cinnamond had a 19 dart leg as he won 2-0 against Mark McLernon and Keith Beale hit a 123 and 5x100’s to beat Hugh Heaney to put the Vintage in front. In the final match Dee McCready and Chris Cinnamond shared the first two legs and in the final leg with it all to play for Dee McCready took out an excellent 101 checkout for an 18 darter.

INF 5 Trojans 3

The INF bounced back from last weeks heavy defeat with a hard fought win over the Trojans with the match going right to the last leg. Despite hitting 3x100’s Davy Vaughan Sr fell to Lee Culbert who hit his 140 when it mattered to claim a 2-1. Rab Lewis had 3x140’s an a 100 to level the tie when he had a 2-1 win over Terry Morrow (140,137). Captain Seamy Tallon had 2x140’s and a 123 on way to his 2-0 win over Stuart Matchett and a 20 dart leg by Marty Crossan (140) helped him beat Liz McGlaughlan 2-0. Paddy Magill (140,2x100) beat Davy Vaughan jr 2-0 to make it 4-1 but the Trojans fought back with wins for Paul Lewis (2x100’s) over Vincey Culbert Jr and a 22 dart leg by Tony Rutherford helped him beat Vincey Culbert Sr 2-1. A 140 in the second leg helped Andy Fairbairn draw level against Marty Murray after Marty won the first but 2x100’s and a double top finish helped Marty secure the win.

Drumgor 6

Clann Eireann 2

Drumgor had a 6-2 win over Clann Eireann who remain bottom. Pearse Richardson won the first two legs over Mark Brady before Joe Duff hit a 140 and a 16 dart leg over Mark Magee to make it 2-0 to the home team. Nathan McCabe celebrated his 19th birthday in style as he had a 2-1 win over Shane Lennon in a high quality game that seen Shane score a 180, 139, 2x125’s and 2x100’s and win in 14 darts and Nathan replying with 2x140’s 2x100’s and a 99 and winning one of his legs in 18 darts before Nathan took the decider. Michael Scullion drew Clann Eireann level with a 2-1 win over George Chambers but it was to be the last win of the night for the Lake Street men as a walkover win for Drumgor’s Gareth Bunting put them 3-2 up. Marty Craig and Johnny McAtasney exchanged 2x100’s each but it was Marty who hit the doubles for a 2-0 win. Clive Hanna secured the win when he had 4x100’s and a 19 dart leg over Ciaran Magee (140,100) before Eamon Duff hit 3x100’s to help him beat Kevin O’Loan (100) 2-0.

Stables 4-4 Celtic

Celtic remain second after their 4-4 draw against the Stables. Two 100’s by Chris Lewsley helped him beat Micky Cahoon 2-0 to put the Stables in front and Dessie Dunbar won 2-0 against Pat Curran. A 140 by Michael Lamb wasn’t enough as Sean Farren hit a 122 and a 100 to him win 2-1. Dee Breen won 2-0 over Aaron Furphy as Celtic moved 3-1 ahead but 4x100’s by Peter Morris got him back to winning ways as he won 2-0 over Martin Haddock. Adrian Hutchinson scraped past Hugh Campbell 2-1 with Hugh missing his chances for the win to make it 4-2 to Celtic. With Shane Tallon receiving a bye due to Celtic only having seven men the last match saw Stables John Bishop take the honours over Gordy Owens.
