Strong effort from Larne runners at Titanic 10k

Larne Athletic Club athletes at the Duathlon event in Lisburn.

The first club finisher was Craig Hutchinson with an excellent time of 36:37, followed by David Noble who finished with another great time of 38:33.

Next home for the Larne contingent was Nigel Kane with a superb time of 39:49, followed closely by Paul Gaskell who finished the race strongly with a time of 40:37.

Paul Tilson was next in line to finish with a great run time of 41:35. David Murphy, who had his first official race for the club, came over the finish line with an excellent time of 41:53.

Thomas Craig finished next with another great time of 42:00 followed by Geraldine Quigley at 42:27.

Quigley put in a great performance, finishing as first female for Larne AC, 8th female finisher overall and being placed first within the F35 category.

Following Quigley was Patricia Blair, racing for the second time over the weekend and earning an impressive time of 44:44.

Elaine Hall also had a strong run, clocking 53:55.

Next home was Kerri-Anne Kearney with a time of 54:08. Jim Evans ran over the finish line clocking a time of 54:38 followed by Sharon Spence at 56:48.

Roger Barham had a strong finish to clock 57:30, followed by Ian McCluggage at 57:47.

Performing in her 10k debut for Larne AC was Kirsten Montgomery who had a great run, crossing the line in a time of 57:48.

Martin McKay was next home for the club with another excellent time of 57:50. .

At the Lisburn Duathlon, Martan Keane finished in eighth place, earning him his first top 10 spot over the course in a time of 58:12.6.

Meanwhile, Stephen Montgomery, husband of Larne AC’s Kirsten Montgomery finished in 31st place in a time of 01:02:14.

Second home for the club was Ian McCluggage finishing in an impressive time of 01:04:23.9 in his first- ever duathlon. Ian also went on to compete in the Titanic 10K later in the day.

Andrew Beattie and Ian Blair battled it out on the home straight to finish in 54th and 55th place respectively, in times of 1:07.23.6 and 1:07.27.01.

After a strong start in the run, Glyn Allen had to pull out of the race due to a punctured tyre around the five-mile mark of the cycle.
