Scarva make it nine in a row and are up to third place

It’s been an unbelievable run and has put the side third in the league table with only five games of the season left to play.

This victory was a 2-0 win away at Dungannon Rovers thanks to goals from Stphen Hendron and Greg Douglas.

It didn’t come without a cost, however, with impressive goalkeeper Ritchie McGivern and inspirational captain Neil Anderson both sustaining serious injuries.

The two goals that secured the three points both came in the first half.

Gregory Douglas played the ball down the right wing to Dean McCammon, who skipped past his marker and fizzed the ball across the penalty area. Stephen Hendron was first to the cross and scored from close range.

Neil Anderson was the architect of the second goal with a measured pass from midfield, which enabled Dean McCammon to race clear of the Dungannon side’s defence and he unselfishly squared the ball to Gregory Douglas who stroked the ball into an unguarded net.

Another precise through ball from Anderson provided an opportunity for McCammon to score a third goal for the visitors but his shot was saved by the Rovers keeper.

Goalkeeper Ritchie McGivern was forced out of the action at half-time with an injured collar bone and the visitors suffered another injury blow when Neil Anderson sustained a deep cut on his forehead in the second half, which later required 10 stitches.

Ryan Dodds went into goals for the second half and he and the Rangers defence deserve immense credit for what was an excellent defensive display.

It was a scrappy 45 minutes, with Rovers enjoying more of the possession but finding the visiting defence too solid to breach.

Wes Baird carved out Scarva’s best chance of a second half goal with a low cross but the Dungannon keeper produced a great save from a Gregory Douglas shot, pushing the ball away for a corner.

Scarva Rangers FC wishes both Neil and Ritchie speedy recoveries from their injuries. They’ll certainly want to get back to action quickly so they don’t miss out on much of what is a tremendous run for their side.
