On the sidelines

Over the past four seasons coaches like Tommy Coleman, Paul Henderson, Patsy Magee and the late Kieran McGurk all gave up their time to help out on the day and for Sunday’s game some new managers have been introduced.

Helping Town team will be St. Peter’s manager Steven McVeigh who recently led his team to promotion from the Second Division and the Whites also contested this seasons Intermediate Championship final. Steven will be joined by Portadown man Gary Mallon who in the past was a member of the Armagh senior management team along with Peter McDonnell and Benny O’Kane. Gary currently works as a full time coach with the Ulster Council. Also in attendance will be St. Paul’s Stalwart, Shane McConville who guided his team to promotion from the First Division for the first time since 1986. The fourth member of the Town’s management team is John Campbell from Clan na Gael who had a spell in the Armagh side but would be best remembered for his skills in a Clan na Gael jersey.

The Country sides management team is expected to be three strong, already confirmed are Annaghmore native Kieran Robinson and Eamon Robinson from Maghery, Kieran up until recently had been training the Sarsfields senior team and was on board when Armagh Minors won the All Ireland title back in 2009. Eamon Robinson was part of Maghery’s management this season which were successful in landing the Division One league title after a 19 year break.
