Nostalgia: Ronnie ‘pedals’ his way to Majorca
It’s not often that anyone manages to get to Majorca on just two wheels.
But that’s what happened to one Lurgan family in 1977.
Mr Ronald McCabrey, with a cycle dealing business in William Street, his wife and four children set off for two weeks in the sun in July courtesy of Raleigh Cycles.
The trip was his prize for notching up record sales of Raleigh bicycles during the second six months of 1976.
Between July and December Ronald ‘pedalled’ 304 machines to customers who preferred two wheels to four.
