Despite the 5-2 scoreline Manager Jason Wilmont was far from disappointed as once again his players produced a good performance.

“It was never a 5-2 game,” said Wilmont. “It was really, really close and we were very good again and I am quite happy about it to be honest.

“I talked to the boys after the match and told them not to be disheartened that they had conceded five goals. They were the jammiest goals yoyu’ve ever seen in your life. The first was a shot from 25 yards and it was going wide when it hit our defender and went into the net.

“Chad Dobbin scored a good goal to equalise for us from a set piece. We hit the bar and the post several times in the first half but just couldn’t get the goal and I thought we were by far the better team.

“In the second half we were a bit sluggish coming out and getting started. We had a chance when Ricky Dunlop was one on one with the keeper to take the lead but missed and they went straight back up the pitch and scored from a corner.

“Their third goal came from our sloppy defending, their fourth bounced off the next of one of their players and in and the fifth came when we were pushing to make it 4-3.

“Knockbreda are a very good side with a lot of ex Irish league players. They are a big strong unit.

“We were very good for long spells in the game, we committed ourselves well and there were a lot more positive s to be taken from the game than negatives.

“We were also missing quite a few players and I had to call up three from the Reserves.

“This week we play Queens at home and I will be looking for the lads to build on these performances.

“Queens are above us so it is important to take points of them. It’s all to play for and if they keep playing the way they have recently, there is no reason we can’t beat them.

“I think they believe in themselves now, I have always had faith in them and it pleases me so much to see the change in them. They are playing as a team and the way I always knew they could.”
