Local rider recognised

Local Lisburn student teacher David Haire has had a superb couple of seasons, becoming the 2012/2013 Irish Short Circuit Supersport champion, Adelaide Masters Series Champion and the Davy Wood Memorial trophy winner.

In recognition of all of that, he was presented with two awards for his achievements on his short circuit career in 2012 and 2013, by the Lisburn City Mayor Margaret Tolerton at the Lagan Valley Civic Island Centre.

David embarked on his 2014 season last weekend at the Bishopscourt race circuit. Speaking about receiving his awards, David said: “It was a fantastic night and a great surprise to have so many personal sponsors, family and friends see me recognised for my success on the racing scene 0ver the past successful couple of seasons. I am truly grateful for it all.

“It was also a great opportunity for everyone to see the new liveried 2014 machinery which I will be competing in not only the Irish Superbike Championship and Adelaide Masters Series, but also the international NW200 after having such a fantastic debut in 2012 and missing it due to injury last season. I’ll also be at the Manx GP which races on the Isle of Man TT circuit in August.

“I would just like to thank everyone involved with the presentation for making it a wonderful evening for all.”
