Larnes AC’s Rodgers completes 50th parkrun

Ashlynn Rodgers became the first first female runner to complete 50 parkruns on Saturday.

The Larne AC member marked the milestone with a personal best time of 23:27.

She first ran a parkrun when she attended the second event held in Larne back in November 2013. She has since run 35 times in borough, 10 times in Ballymena, three times in Antrim and made a visit to Belfast Victoria and Carrickfergus in the process.

This week there were 54 runners, of whom five were first-timers, and 17 recorded new personal bests. Representatives of four different athletics clubs took part.

Women’s placings:
Penny Lindsay of North Belfast Harriers was first (fourth overall) over the line in 20:45 . 
Her club-mate Janice Plumb, who has been first to finish on nine previous occasions, was second (fifth overall) home in 20:55.
 Rodgers took third (20th overall), clocking 23:27.

Men’s placings:
Greg Lavery of North Belfast Harriers, was first home in 17:53 - his fourth win in nine appearances.
 Andy Guy of East Coast Athletic Club was second in 18:11 and Chris Davis (East Coast) was third over the line in 20:07.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:
Penny Lindsay (VW45-49) was graded 78.07% for the time 20:45 (fourth overall).
 Greg Lavery (VM40-44) was graded 76.89% for the time 17:53 (first overall).
 Janice Plumb (VW45-49) was graded 75.94% for the time 20:55 (fifth overall).
