Sloan wins Fred Daly qualifyingcompetition

Joe Sloan saw his 16 handicap reduced to 14 courtesy of a fine win in the Fred Daly Qualifying competition at Gracehill on Saturday 21st April .

The competition was played in fine sunny conditions and Joe’s impressive back nine of 21 points was decisive at the end of the day when all the cards were in.

Drew Cochrane matched Joe’s 40 points but not his back nine adding 19 points to his fine opening 21pts.

The highlight of Joe’s round was a birdie at the long 14th par 3 Wing ‘n’ a Prayer. In third was Stuart Nicholl but he was one of six unlucky players who must be looking back at their round reflecting on the holes where they could have picked up another point.

The others were Chris McNeill, Gilmour Harkness, Steven Bell (Gross Prize Winner), David Jardine and Geoffrey McLean all on 39 points.

There were 10 Twos recorded by the following: Aaron Bell, Charles Hamill, Wallace McKeeman, Charles Hamill, Darren Simpson, Robert McKinney, Joseph Sloan, Victor Armstrong, Stephen Cave and John Liggett.
