Seniors Day is held at Lambeg GC

It was Seniors Day at Lambeg on Saturday and Mike English (10) put in a fantastic display to win by three clear points over his nearest rival with a brilliant 48 pts.

Michael had no less than six threes on his card in the first nine holes, three of them birdies, and with one of those was on the stroke index 2, 3rd hole. Add only one single bogey and he reached the turn with a leading score of 25 pts. Single bogeys at 10 and 15 were cancelled out by birdies at 14 and 17 and with the other five holes at par he accumulated another 23pts for his final total of 48 pts and the Seniors trophy. Club Captain Ritchie Gorman (18) scored his best ever recorded gross of 75 at Aberdelghy to take second place with 45pts. This score was enough for him to win the Veterans Trophy (over 60’s) which he has finished runner-up on the two previous years, third time lucky. Ernie McAleenon (16) took second place in the weekly contest after the count-back when he also finished on 45pts.
