McGahon wins at Faughan Valley after BOT finish

ON Sunday Faughan Valley hosted a charity open in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Care, which turned out to be a successful day for the charity.

First spot was contested on a break of tie finish between 9 handicapper Shane McGahon and 23 handicapper William O’Brien both carding 40 points, Shane took first spot with 20 points on the back nine, with William in second spot.

Third spot was taken by 7 handicapper Paul Duffy after he scored with 38 points, the gross prize went to 4 handicapper James Lindsay with 67 nett, the front nine went to Bernard Kelly with 20 points playing off a handicap of 4, whilst 23 handicapper Eoghan Brolly took the back nine with 23 points.

The winner of the longest drive and nearest the pin was Christopher Ross of City of Derry Golf Club, this weekend the club will be hosting an open stableford competition, time sheet in operation, all members heading for Donaghadee for the weekend transport leaving Faughan Valley at 10am on Friday morning.
