Furey's 5k series launched

LATER in April, Wednesday 21st to be precise, the 2010 Furey Insurance 5k series kicks off with the Bay Road race scheduled to start at 7.30pm from the Riverfront Walkway at Sainsburys.

Overall series sponsor Sean Furey was on hand alongside athletics Northern Ireland President John Glover on Monday last for the launch of the series at University of Ulster, Magee.

Magee Sports centre will be race head quarters for race one in the series, with the local college the individual sponsor of this first race for 2010.

The race will also host the Athletics Northern Ireland 5k road championship for the second successive year and showed once again produce both quality and quanitity on the fast Bay Road circuit.

The City of Derry Spartans organised series continues on Wednesday, May 12, at Lisnagelvin; Wednesday, May 26 at Buncrana; Wednesday, June 9 at Culmore; Wednesday, June 30 at Carndonagh and Wednesday, July 21, at Balliniska.
