Tobermore Youth Academy training

Tobermore United hosted Coleraine FC in a pre-season friendly game at Fortwilliam Park last Saturday and the Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney stuck to his word and brought his full first team squad for this annual fixture.

Although the Premiership outfit deservedly won the game the 3-0 score line was a little flattering and indeed Colin Patterson should have put Tobermore ahead before Gary Browne scored Coleraine’s first with a double ricochet that gave keeper Paul Wells no chance.

Ruairi Harkin added number 2 from the penalty spot just before half time. Both camps made full scale changes for the second half to give all players a workout.

In a very even contest Mark Scott thought he had pulled one back for Tobermore but the ball somehow didn’t go in and it was the Bannsiders who got the all important third goal when Browne nicked his second of the game.

Both managers were well pleased with the workout in the summer sun but both will be aware that a few more names are likely to be added to the respective squads.

Next up for Tobermore is Dungannon Swifts at Fortwilliam Park on Thursday evening (July 18th) with a 7.15 ko and then Maghera Strollers on Saturday July 20th with a 2.00pm ko.

Tobermore Mini Soccer Centre is taking a well earned break and sessions will recommence on Saturday August 10th and everyone is welcome.

The fun sessions are supervised by IFA accredited coaches and are open to all boys and girls of primary school age. For more information visit facebook.com or tobermoreminisoccer.com.
