Deery also admitted that they probably should have won by a bigger margin.

“We were really comfortable, good at times and we are through to the next round,” he said.

“It’s a big cup competition for Championship clubs down and you can only beat what is in front of you.

“At the end of the day they beat Lisburn Distillery in the last round and they had a couple of handy players, but we dealt with that and on another day we probably could have scored a few more goals. We played all our best football in the opening 20 minutes and we scored at really good times, especially right before half-time.

Deery was also full of praise for youngsters Jamie Dunne, Shane Brennan and Aaron Jarvis.

“I always give young people a chance and whenever I took the job I promoted Jamie Dunne and Jamie McIntyre straight into the first team squad,” he added.

“Young Jarvis looks a real good player, he looks a good prospect and it’s only fair he got his opportunity.

“He came on against Sport & Leisure, it was a really difficult game, but it didn’t faze him and I thought he was excellent at Queen’s I would nearly go as far and say that he was our best player.

“A young man of his age he just has this great calmness about him, which is a great quality.

“Jamie Dunne also looked really well, we started with three at the back and he started in the left wing back role but unfortunately Mark (Scoltock) got injured and we had to revert to a 4-4-2 formation, with Jamie slotting in at left-back and he did very well.”
