Colts cruise into last four of Youth Cup

Institute Colts stormed into the semi-finals of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup after beating Hillsborough Boys 13-1 in their quarter-final game on Saturday.

The first half of this tie of the round at a wind and rain swept Drumahoe was only three minutes old when Institute’s Jamie McIntyre opened the scoring.

The game then went into the predictable end to end mode until Hillsborough Boys’ Andrew Doran equalised in the ninth minute.

In the 22nd minute, Institute regained the lead with a goal from Jordan Armstrong who doubled his tally on 35 minutes.

The half ended with another goal for Institute from ‘Man of the Match’ Con Deeney.

The second half was only a few minutes old when Deeny again found the back of the net and any hope Hillsborough Boys had of a come back were forgotten.

Institute took total control and things went from bad to worse for Hillsborough Boys when they had Aaron McDonald sent off and Institute were awarded a penalty on 54 minutes that was converted by Aaron Porter.

The goals started to flow from Institute with Tom Carlin, Jordan Armstrong, Jamie McIntyre, Con Deeny and Jack Higgins all getting themselves on the score-sheet

Manager Colin Colhoun was over the moon with his young boys display and stated his feelings on facebook.

“It’s not very often that I’m stuck for words, but on today after watching Institute 19’s beat Hillsborough Boys 13-1 (in the QF of the Harry Cavan Cup) I really don’t have any words except to say how PROUD I am!”
