Ballymacash stay top of the league

Ballymacash Rangers looked to keep hold of top spot when they welcomed Tandragee Rovers to Rushmore Park.

The game started off at quite a fast pace as both sides tried to gain an early advantage. The locals were giving the ball away in precarious areas, as they tried to get their passing football going, only for the away side to press and force them into errors.

It was, however, Ballymacash who struck the first blow and send the home-side in 1-0 to the good at half-time with a goal straight from the training ground as Orr found space in a well worked set-piece crashing the ball home from a Gibney cross. The second half started off where the first ended with the game flowing from end to end. It took another set-piece to get the leveller from Tandragee as a near post corner-kick was flicked in by the away team striker.

The ‘Wee Cash’ 2nd team travelled to Portadown last week, where they came away with a fine 1-0 win against a decent Hanover side. Striker Chris Finlay scored a spectacular winning goal from 30 yards out, though it was a fantastic save from Rangers keeper Paul Agnew that earned Rangers all three points, when he somehow managed to keep out a point-blank effort in the dying minutes.
