A 2-10 to 0-13 victory over Tyrone side Éire Óg secured their spot which didn’t look likely with 1o minutes to go in last week’s quarter final.

“We certainly didn’t think so to be honest,” said Eoghan Rua manager, Pádraig Ó Mianain.

“We thought the season was done and dusted at that stage. But to be fair to the lads they have a very good attitude, they never stop. Last week we got a goal or two in the last five minutes, that gave us momentum and we caught Bredagh cold.

“So we knew we could match the effort of Carrickmore, it was a case of whether we could up the hurling level. We got a game during the week and we have had a couple of good training sessions, so that was much better today, the basic skills were much more efficient.”

Eoghan Rua now face another tough battle when they take on Rossa in the final.

“There are some established teams in Ulster at this grade the likes of Burt and Keady and with Rossa beating both of them to reach the final they will be yet another step up for us,” said Pádraig.

“I mean any team that comes out of Antrim will have a lot of hurling under their belts and will be favourites against a Derry team.

“But look our boys are strong, they have a good attitude, we will certainly give it everything we have.”
