Dromore reach semi-final

These sides have not played against each other since under 13 level and the opening exchanges were very physical.

Dromore winger james milligan opened the score with a fine solo run into the corner after only five minutes of the game.

The difficult conversion was missed and the game was played to halftime with a similar pattern of hard physical contact between both packs. Dromore did not seem to be able to play their usual open running game.

Ryan Hughes had a number of fine runs smothered by Omagh who had him singled out as a threat. Omagh were rewarded with three points from a kickable penalty. The second half saw dromore begin to settle down and some clever kicking into the omagh 22 allowed dromore to score through ross bingham twice from line out catch and drives.

Captain Adam McDonald converted one of these trys from a difficult angle. Dromore struggled with some of the referees decisions in the last quarter of the game. Omagh scored a try through some lack of concentration by the dromore team following a penelty kick awarded to omagh. Dromore welcomed Chris Wilson’s return to fitness he was physical throughout the game and had a try not given and a further scoring opportunity denied by the referee. Johnnie Creighton, Marcus Heath and Joshua Braham all played strongly. Dromore now face a semi final match away to a strong Randalstown team next week. They must up their game said coach Michael Harshaw if they want to progress into the final at ravenhill on 10th may.
