Draw enough for Drumgorto clinch the league title

Going into the game two points ahead knowing a win would almost guarantee the title, it started well for Drumgor as Stevie Duff got his twelfth win of the season as he beat Sean Farren by two legs to one to open up the action.

The Celtic were determined though to become the first team to beat their visitors and they were soon in front as John Bishorek Jr beat Paul Donnelly in their deciding leg for a 2-1 win and Mick Millar scored well as he beat Joe Duff in both legs winning both in 18 darts.

Dessie Dunbar got his sixth league win in a row as he extended the hosts lead to three games to one with a 2-1 win over Eamon Duff, but Shane Lennon’s eleventh league win of the season pulled one back for Drumgor as he beat Andy McConnon by two legs to nil.

Celtic captain Gerard Crewe was up next and he secured at least a point for his team as he beat Marty Craig in three legs played for a 2-1 win.

Clive Hanna kept his unbeaten league record going as he got his 17th consecutive league win but had to work hard for it in a 2-1 win over Micky Cahoon to pull one back for Drumgor and take it to the last match.

Missed doubles in the first leg by Pearse let Adrian take the opening leg but unknown to him wins in the second and third leg helped him take the victory and secure a 4-4 draw overall, but more importantly got his team that one point needed to let his Drumgor team have the privilege of being called league champions 2015.

Last years champions Vintage have known for a few weeks now that it was unlikely they would retain the league title but none the less they intend to bow out as champions with pride as they returned to the venue were they claimed the honours last season and came away with a 5-3 win to move joint second with their opponents.

The first match of the match seen a massive win streak come to an end as John Cinnamon finally lost a match after 34 consecutive wins dating back to October 2012 as Dave McCusker from the Forresters hit a 180 and got his 10th win from 11 played in the league to put the hosts one nil up.

The second match seen another record go as Paddy Magill lost his unbeaten league record as he lost for the first time in ten games as Conor Mallon punished his missed doubles for a 2-0 win to level the match.

Jamesy Bolton, who is having another excellent season, got his 11th league win as he had a 2-0 win over Christy Gribben to put the Vintage ahead before Seamy Tallon brought the sides level with a 2-0 win over Oliver Toland.

Keith Beale got his ninth win of the season as he beat Marty Crossan in both legs to put the Vintage back in front but again it was level in the next match as Vincey Culbert sr got the better of Dee McCready in their deciding leg for a 2-1 win.

In yet another tight match it was Brian McCavigan who took the honours in the deciding leg against Lee Culbert to put last years champions back in front and it was Dee Blaney who completed the win as a 180 and a 140 in the second leg was enough to help him on his way to a 2-0 win over Terry Morrow and a final score of INF 3-5 Vintage and move the victors level on points in what is now a three way fight for runners-up spot.

In what was already a good night for the Drumgor Tavern Bar got better as the Trojans secured their first points of the season as the good form that they have shown recently paid off with an impressive 6-2 win over Clann Eireann.

Things didn’t start off to well for the victors though as 3x100s were enough for Clann Eireann’s Mark Magee to take the opening match against Stuart Matchett by two legs to nil. Roger Hare got his fifth win of the season for the Trojans as he had a 140 on way to a 2-1 win over Gary Hendron who scored well himself with three ton plus scores including a 140.

Andrew Colhoun’s 2-0 win over Michael Kitchings helped put the Trojans in front for the first time and two one soon become three one as Paul Lewis got the Trojans fifth consecutive leg win as he won both legs over Joe McCabe.

Michael Scullion had a 140 as he got his sixth league win of the season as he beat 2014 Ladies Individual champion Liz McLaughlin by two legs to nil to put just one between the sides, but the rest of the night was to belong to the Trojans. Davy Vaughan Jr and Chris Magee exchanged 5x100’s with Davy getting three of them on route to his 2-1 win to make it 4-2 to the hosts.

It was Trojans captain Andy Fairbairn who lead from the front as he got the better of Clann Eireann captain Johnny McAtamney to secure the win as Andy won both legs played before the final match of the night seen Michael Shields get in on the winning act too as a couple of ton scores helped him beat Joe McGahan by two legs to nil to put just a point between the sides in the league table with one final match to be played.

The final match of the week between the Stables and Eire Og was called off.
