Dramatic end to Athletic's season

WITH a win, a draw, a defeat and more than a little drama, Inver Athletic played out their league programme with three games in six hectic days.

They lost 2-1 at home Randalstown, with McCracken scoring the Larne team’s goal from the spot. McCallum was their man of the match.

On Wednesday night Inver travelled to Cullybackey and earned a deserved 1-1 draw against the third-placed side. Neither of Inver’s first-choice keepers was available and the third man was hurt in the warm-up. Young Glen Ogilby went in to nets and performed admirably to pick up man-of-the-match award. Michael McLean got inver’s goal, keeping him in contention for the top-goalscorer accolade.

Saturday brought Cloughmills to the Bay for Inver’s last home match of the season. The team put in one of their best performances, running out 4-0 winners with doubles for Hughes and Ogilby. The defence kept a rare clean sheet, topped by a great save from Kane in the dying minutes. Man of the match was Hughes.

However, four defeats in their last six matches meant Inver finished bottom.

The team requires a manager/ coaching team for 2010-11. Anyone interested should ring the secretary on 07955390940 or through email [email protected]
