Goalie Jill did some amazing saves despite the best efforts of Rainey forwards and midfielder.in the second half Dalriada came out fighting and tried desperately to score a goal but failed.

Dalriada U14B hockey team travelled to Magherafelt to play Rainey Endowed School for a friendly match. The weather conditions were favourable for the game at the Rainey gravel pitch. The first half of the match was well played by both teams, but Rainey scored two good goals even after the attempts to defend by Dalriada with Imogen Thompson defending particularly well.

More There was a chance at goal for Dalriada but proved unsuccessful from attempts from the three forwards. Following the team talk at half time with coach Mrs Sutherland, Dalriada came back fighting. Some excellent tackles by mid field especially Jill Hutchinson and Chloe Creith. Some great attempts at goal but sadly the score line remained unchanged. The final score was 2-0 to Rainey, with some excellent hockey displayed throughout the match by both teams, and Chloe Creith standing out for some excellent team work and skills. Many thanks go to Dalriada coach Mrs Sutherland on behalf of the U14B team for great advice and support throughout and to Captain Imogen Thompson for guidance and encouragement to all the players.

(Under 13A)

The under 13B team earned a well-deserved 0-0 draw against Rainey Endowed on Saturday 11th October. The Ballymoney side, playing away in Magherafelt, had a strong defence who tackled well and were able to make some skilful passes to their attacking players. The opponents had a few attempts at goal but the Dalriada goalkeeper Rachel Anderson, made some excellent saves and a secure 4 player defence helped her out. Sweeper, Chloe Jennings, had a great game and proved unbeatable. A hardworking and competitive midfield of Erika Graham, Paris-Rose McVicker and Ellen Rankin broke down many Rainey attacks and tried to spread the play out to the wings and to their forward players. The Dalriada forwards worked hard but didn’t have many opportunities to shoot on goal as they faced an equally defensive Rainey team. There was great team spirit and the Dalriada girls enjoyed the match. Thanks to Mrs Sutherland for umpiring and giving great words of advice and encouragement and also to Mr Bradley for coaching the team.
