Parkhill set to captain Carrick

Iain Parkhill was elected as 1st XI captain of Carrickfergus Cricket Club for the 2013 season at its Annual General Meeting held last Thursday.

He takes over from Ross Gelderbloem following the club’s relegation from the NCU’s Ulster Bank Premier League after nine seasons at the top level.

Middle Road stalwart Roger Bell is the club’s new president, taking over from Leslie Thompson who stood down after 13 years at the helm.

Jim Nelson becomes the new senior vice-president, Gary Thompson was elected honorary treasurer, while Alastair Burton was re-elected as honorary secretary. The assistant honorary secretary is John Stewart, and Ivan Walker will be assistant honorary treasurer.

Long-serving members Wallace Luney, David McKillen, Alex Adams and Michael Ross were re-elected. Michael McIlroy who will chair the Cricket Committee, Alister McCalmont and Anthony Martin will be new faces on the Management Committee this year.
