Coleraine slip to single goal defeat

COLERAINE Ladies slipped to a single goal defeat at home to Greenisland last Saturday.

After a morale boosting team talk by coach Peter Semple the hosts started the match with determination and it was clear that this would be a closely contested match.

During the first half, Coleraine fought hard to pressurise the Greenisland defence and were unlucky not to score.

Defenders Clare Black, Sharon Kennedy, Ruth Semple and Emma Harkness closed down on the Greenisland attack and Michelle Budina was again on top form, making some spectacular saves.

However a swift counter attack saw the visitors take a half-time lead.

Coleraine raised the tempo in the second half and competed for every ball with Katherine Minihan making some breaks into the Greenisland circle.

Unlucky not to be awarded several penalty corners in the closing minutes Coleraine were unable to find an equaliser.
