Chambers wants back-to-back wins

WHAT a difference a week can make. Seven days ago Ballyclare Comrades manager Gordon Chambers was lamenting his side's lack of goals, now he is beaming after watching the Reds hit four past strugglers Armagh City.

Chambers now switches his attention to Friday night's important clash with Banbridge Town at Dixon Park.

"After having gone two games without scoring, I was hoping for a win against bottom placed Armagh City," said Gordon. "So in the pre-match team talk I stressed the need for an early strike, and an improved performance all over the park, and the lads responded magnificently.

"We got the early goal, collected three points, recorded a clean sheet and leap-frogged Banbridge in the Championship table. We welcomed back Stuart Galbraith following suspension, and as usual he proved to be influential in midfield, and was rewarded with a goal.

"Before we got our third goal we had missed a penalty, hit the post and were thwarted twice by the keeper, who pulled off marvellous saves, so overall it was a splendid afternoon's work, and we could have won by an even more convincing margin.

"We now turn our attention to Banbridge Town who will be at Dixon Park on Friday evening. This will be a virtual six-pointer for both teams - for us to move five points above them, and for them to avoid dropping into the relegation zone.

"With no new injuries or suspensions we will have a full squad to choose from, so I trust that the fans will turn out to give us much appreciated vocal support," he ended.
