Bull’s Eye hit the target to claim the spoils

Only one fixture remained unfulfilled – Potters A v The Forge Bar, which will be rescheduled for a later date on the agreement of both parties.

Division 1

Racks A 9-11 Bull’s Eye A

Tommy Henry and Gareth Johnston took out good finishes for Racks while Stephen Warwick was unlucky in a tight battle with Nigel Craig. The second session started well for Bull’s Eye with Stephen Warwick taking out a good finish to beat Tommy Henry and Gareth Johnston beat Chris McColgan.

Tommy Morrow inadvertently potted the black in his game with Keith Hunter. Steven McMullan pulled out a good clearance against Johnny White to get Bull’s Eye back in touch at 5-4. Nigel Craig and Tommy Morrow looked to have pulled Racks A clear again. However, Bull’s Eye A didn’t read the script from this point on winning seven of the last nine frames. This episode had a multitude of superb pool and a lot of banter involved in it. Star of the comedy show, and admittedly not for the first time, was Stephen Warwick with two absolutely crazy finishes against poor Gareth Johnston.

In the first encounter Stephen swerved around an obstacle ball in the middle of the table to pot a beauty in the corner and amazingly fluked the missed black off four cushions to win. Another horrifying pot on the black gave Stephen another crazy game. Nigel Craig beat Chris McColgan after a re-rack. The match was decided by a superb last black ball finish by Kenny Watton. The Bull’s Eye A appreciated a sporting Racks A team and maintained their unpredictable reputation.

Racks B 7-13 Railway Arms

In winning three of his first four games Raymond Baxter certainly made a big impact and was duly awarded man of the match. A scrappy first session was saved from mediocrity by a stunning finish from Stefan Christie to beat Baxter though. Railway Arms really got their act together as Scott McClelland took out a great finish as The Arms swept up all five frames. The third was a closely fought affair with the highlight being an excellent finish from Jason using a combination shot to win the frame. The final session was another even affair rounded off by a stunning piece of luck with a lucky black by Stephen Blair. MOTM – Raymond Baxter

Mary Pat’s – 8 v Sperrin – 12

Mary Pat’s raced into a 4-1 lead in the first session. Lee Caulfield replied with an eight ball finish for the Sperrin. The second session was the exact opposite of the first with Sperrin taking a 4-1 advantage. They pushed home their advantage with another four wins in the next. Lee Caulfield beat Julie Henderson after a re-rack in frame 12. Billy Moore, Dijon McCorkell and Raymond Stockman continued a fine run for the Sperrin in the fourth to close out the match as Martin McNeill and Gary Kennedy fought to gain a bonus point for Mary Pat’s. Division 2

Roost 6–14 Bull’s Eye Old Boys

Gary Hunter had awful luck in the first game, accidentally potting black in a cannon to give Jeff Butcher the opener. George Cameron and Clive Robertson pulled the Roost into the lead with some good pool. The Bull’s Eye won eight of the next nine games to lead 9-3 with impressive finishes from Karl Doherty and Stephen Biggart. Jasper was also weighed in with a couple of of confident finishes. The only respite for the Roost came by way of a win for Murphy O’Kane over Derek Allen. Roost rallied a little, but the Bull’s Eye finished the job ruthlessly with four straight wins. Social Club A 9-11 Potters B

Potters B streaked off to a clean sweep in the first session although all the games were close. Possibly Social Club were missing David Shirlow who has become something of a talisman for them as captain. Shirlow duly delivered with a win in his first appearance over Ady Boreland. James Nesbitt, Kealan Herald and Curtis Boreland took Potters B into an 8-1 lead before Social Club pulled themselves together. Some inspired pool from Dean Harkin and David Shirlow helped Social Club to win eight of the last 11 games but the damage had been done. MOTM – David Shirlow

Fergys Bar 15-5 Social Club B

Fergy’s Bar were a different prospect with Davy Ferguson and Chris Doey providing a talented backbone for this new side. They along with some fine potting by Keith Bacon, gave Fergy’s a early lead. In an amazing streak of 10 wins in 12 games Fergy’s forged into an unassailable lead against Social Club B. Davy Feruson rolled back the years with a vintage display of classy shots. Tigers 11-9 The Tavern

Tigers streaked off to an early 4-1 lead in the first session with hot finishes from Darryl Stirling and Mark Watt. Matty McGuire won a tactical consolation game for the Tavern. The next session stood out for great finishes from Ricky Watt for Tigers and Jack for the Tavern. The Tavern had a super third session which they took 4-1 with good pool played by Jack and Ryan for the Tavern. The Tigers though won four games on the trot to close out the win. MOTM – Ricky Duff
