A would-be thief who dropped the items he had stolen in the Cookstown area, was later arrested on drugs charges.

Police say the 32-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of burglary on Sunday

“At about 9.40am, the man was walking around business premises in the Tamlaghtmore Road area and attempted to steal a number of items, though he later dropped them after being disturbed,” said a PSNI spokesman.

“Police arrested the man a short time later and further arrested him on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and dishonestly using electricity.

“Later that day the man was released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
