Undertaking talk for Probus Club

COLERAINE undertaker Hugh Wade and his daughter Alison were the guest speakers at the latest meeting of Coleraine Probus Club.

Hugh gave a brief introduction on how his family began in the funeral business in Garvagh before moving to their present premises in Abbey Street in Coleraine.

Both speakers gave a most fascinating insight into the modern working of their business,taking questions from members as they did their talk.

The revealed how in past times the origins of undertaking had been an offshoot of businesses like spirit grocers or even garages. Hugh reminded members that this practice was still alive and well in certain areas of Scotland.

Alison took questions from members relating to the cost and types of coffins etc.Altogether a most informative morning and not without a certain amont of humour.

The meeting closed with Mervyn Patterson proposing a vote of thanks which was duly passed on by the president Ross Torrens.
