Ulster Scots committee

Some £20,000 funding has been released to Ballycarry Community Association to develop infrastructure such as interpretative panels, signage and other projects.

The development comes after talks to establish a new committee to help co-ordinate Ulster Scots activity in the Larne borough. Larne Council has been involved in discussions with the Ulster Scots Agency to try and establish how best its heritage and culture could be supported locally.

At the latest meeting of Larne Council’s development committee, chief executive Geraldine McGahey told elected members it was anticipated the new committee would be set up in the very near future. She added that work was continuing to try and bring all Ulster Scots groups within the borough together to move forward.
