Taxi driver suffers cuts and bruises after city assault

A taxi driver suffered cuts and bruises after being flagged down and attacked in Londonderry city centre in the early hours of Sunday (April 6).

It was reported that at around 1.50am a taxi was flagged down in Linenhall Street by a man and the taxi driver subsequently assaulted and the taxi damaged.

The man was described as being in his late 30s of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans with a dark blue short sleeve top with two white emblems on the chest.

It is believed he was accompanied by a woman in her late 30s who was wearing a pink dress.

The taxi driver suffered cuts and bruising. Officers would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with any information to contact them in Strand Road on the new non-emergency number 101.
