Man due in court this morning after alleged Waterloo assault

A 29-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning (Friday, June 13) to face a charge in connection with an alleged assault outside licensed premises in the Waterloo Street area of Londonderry on Wednesday.

The PSNI says the man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and, as is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Hijacking

Meanwhile, in a separate investigation police are also looking for information following the hijacking of a delivery van, which was carrying a young girl, in the Glenowen Park area of Londonderry, also on Wednesday (June 11).

At approximately 11.30pm Police received a report that three masked men stopped the vehicle and threatened the driver if he did not hand over the van. They then made off in the van which was later found burnt out in the Central Drive area.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this hijacking to ring 101.
