The poppy season gets underway
Speaking ahead of the launch the Chairperson Mrs Roberta McNally said, “We as a Legion would like to extend a warm welcome to the people of Lurgan and Brownlow to attend this year’s Poppy Appeal Launch.
“The launch officially starts this year’s collection and I would encourage as many to attend as possible given the importance of the Poppy Appeal to those currently serving in our Armed Forces and those whose lives have been affected by the scars of war.

I would like on behalf of the committee of Lurgan and Brownlow Legion to thank the public, the churches, schools, poppy collectors, shop keepers, businesses and anyone else who contributed financially and practically to the 2012/2013 appeal.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and would like to sincerely thank everyone who played a part no matter how big or small.”
She added: “The Annual Remembrance Day service will be on the November 10 this year and wreaths are now available to collect. I have no doubt that this year we will again beat last year’s target and to that end I would encourage everyone to support our appeal.
“Finally I would like to commend the many volunteers that year on year help in door-to-door collections, street collections and lots of other jobs associated with the Poppy Appeal.”
