Tarry Lane rubbish is blighting the area

ARROGANT lazy flytippers need to catch themselves on, according to a Sinn Fein Councillor.

He was speaking after a huge pile of household waste was dumped on Lurgan’s Tarry Lane.

Cllr Liam Mackle hit out at the litter louts who “deliberately contaminate Craigavon’s rural landscape”.

He pointed out that fly tipping is not only a blot on our landscape but it also creates an unnecessary cost for the ratepayers of the district.

Cllr Mackle was speaking after receiving yet another complaint about household waste being dumped along the side of Tarry Lane.

He said: “Each and every ratepayer in Craigavon has to pay to clean up the mess left by these selfish individuals. It cost much more per item to clean up after illegal fly-tippers than it does to collect waste that has been disposed of in the proper way.

“There is absolutely no excuse for this disgraceful behaviour. Council, on top of the normal bin collection service, provides centres that can deal with every sort of waste.

“Those arrogant and lazy people who throw their waste in our rural lane ways need to catch themselves on. This behaviour is not acceptable and these individuals are a disgrace to their community.”
