St Ronan’s responds
Principal designate Michele Corkey said: “Over the past four months the Interim Board of Governors, in conjunction with the principal designate, has undertaken the task of steering the college towards a new beginning in September 2015.
“In cooperation with key stakeholders, the Governors felt a new identity was central to recognising this new beginning in post primary education in Lurgan. Central to this identity was the development of a new uniform, badge and motto. Throughout the design process teachers, students and the local business community shared their views with us.
“The issue of phasing in a new uniform to ease the financial burden on families was discussed. However, taking all views into consideration, and to underpin the new identity we believe now is the appropriate time to launch the new uniform. This decision was not taken lightly, but with the view to a new beginning, and future for our students.”
