Save the Children branch celebrate sixtieth anniversary

TOLLYMORE National Outdoor Centre, Bryansford, Newcastle was the impressive venue for the 60th anniversary lunch of the Lisburn branch of Save the Children.

On arrival guests were given a conducted tour of the Centre’s state of the art facilities set in the stunning Mourne Mountains and entertained by a group of traditional musicians from Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch with their teacher Mr Harrison. Mrs Angela Drayne, President of the Lisburn Branch of Save the Children, welcomed guests to the Centre. A delicious lunch was served by staff of the National Outdoor Centre followed by a most interesting talk by Ed Kilgore, a member of the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team. The thirty five volunteers provide an invaluable service to the community.

The branch would like to thank the following for the ballot prizes: Lamont Florist, Lisburn; Cribstown Nursery, Lisburn; Barbican Fine Wines, Newcastle and Nikki’s Kitchen Cafe, Newcastle.

The afternoon was a great success and raised a total of £830 for Save the Children. A big thank you to all who supported the event.
