David Ford said: "The work being done on the ground, by Derry CSP, is vital in confronting anti-social behaviour, crime and the fear of crime associated with university life.

"The Community Safety Wardens project is an excellent example of how partnership working can deliver practical results to local communities.

"Local people are best placed to combat local problems. The local community safety audit highlighted residents' concerns and as a result, the CSPs in conjunction with the University of Ulster, have produced this project that will provide a safer environment and a greater sense of security to all those in the vicinity of the University.

"I have been very impressed by what I have seen and heard today from the CSP staff and the wardens and I commend all those involved in this project."
