Running and kicking for charity

CHAMPIONS Kickboxing Club in Larne has raised £800 for NSPCC Northern Ireland by taking part in the Belfast City Marathon.

Two club members completed the full 26 miles and five members took part in a marathon relay team organised by the club to raise funds for the NSPCC.

Lisa Moffatt, NSPCC community fundraising executive, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Champions Kickboxing Club for raising this fantastic amount to support our work with local vulnerable children and young people.

“The NSPCC provides a range of services for children, young people and their families including ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline. However, we know that there are still children suffering in silence who need our help. By raising money through events such as the Belfast City Marathon local people are helping us to ensure that children and young people are better informed, better cared for and better protected.”

The NSPCC runs several fundraising events throughout the year such as the NSPCC Binevenagh Challenge HACK on September 11. This is a 23-mile walking challenge across some of the most challenging and beautiful countryside.
