POLITICS: Coulter wishes Paisley well

THE Ulster Unionist Party has taken the opportunity to extend their best wishes to Dr Ian Paisley as he announced that he did not plan to fight the North Antrim Seat in the upcoming general election.

Commenting on the news North Antrim MLA Rev Dr Robert Coulter said: "I wish to extend my best wishes to Ian – in North Antrim he has served for 40 years as an MP and this is something that needs to be recognised. While I will obviously admit that yes, we had many political differences over the years I would like to wish him well as he steps down from his role as MP – filling his high profile role will indeed be a hard feat.

"The Ulster Unionist Party along with our Conservative colleagues are currently in the process of selecting a candidate to fight the North Antrim seat. The Ulster Unionist Party nominee is Robin Swann and we eagerly await the outcome of the candidate selection process."
