Police are investigating a report of a car mounting a footpath in the Moyle Road area of Ballycastle at 1.35pm on Tuesday 11 February.

The car, which had no registration plates, narrowly missed a group of students in the area. Police would like to speak to anyone who has any information on the red coloured VW Golf or it’s driver.

Police are concerned about reports of anti-social behaviour in the Moyle area triggered by the recent cold weather. One of the main concerns reported is people throwing snowballs at passing cars.

While it can seem like a bit of a laugh, police advise that this is a dangerous thing to do. Apart from the damage that could be caused to vehicles, there is a danger that someone could be seriously injured when the driver’s attention is diverted away from the road.

Police in Moyle are investigating a burglary in the Churchfield Road area of Ballycastle, thought to have happened between 4pm and 5.10pm on Wednesday 12 February.

Someone is thought to have entered the house through a downstairs window and rummaged through a number of rooms. The home owner is not certain at this stage if anything was taken. Police are seeking information from the community as part of their investigation.

Police are investigating two separate suspected thefts of oil in the Ballycastle area, both on Thursday 13 February. Police believe that a van or lorry must was used to transport the oil away from premises on Moyle Road and Church Road.

Police are investigating the theft of a tumble dryer and two bikes from a shed at the rear of a house on the Carnbore Road, Bushmills.

The theft is thought to have happened sometime over the course of the past three weeks. If you have been offered a bike or tumble dryer in suspicious circumstances since then please contact police on 0845 600 8000.
