Council waiting for ‘Wedding’ fund info
While the council said it welcomed the Minister for Culture Arts and Leisure’s decision to make money available, the council was drawn on whether or not funding had been ratified for the purchase of a wedding gift for the couple.
It is also not clear whether or not the council will be displaying and selling Royal Wedding memorabilia in the run up to the marriage of the second in line to the throne.

Hide AdA spokesperson for Derry City Council said: “The matter of hosting celebrations to mark the Royal Wedding has not yet been considered by Derry City Council although local communities may already be discussing some ideas. The Council welcomes comments made by the Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure earlier this month that he hopes to make funding available to communities. The Council is currently awaiting confirmation details relating to the allocation of this funding.”
Although the marriage has been granted Public Holiday status by the Queen, there has been no word on whether the wedding will be shown in a large screen format in any of the city’s public spaces.
