Open invitation to attend Horizons' AGM in Lisburn

The Chairman of Horizons, a Lisburn based charity which offers support to those bereaved by suicide, has extended an open invitation to the AGM which is being held on Wednesday 8th June at 8pm.

Despite mental health being a major issue on the agenda of most political parties at the recent Assembly elections, Horizons has found it difficult to raise its profile in the Lisburn area.

Chairman David Edmont said: “Despite advice leaflets being available with local doctors, police and undertakers we still find that local people are being directed to Belfast, and further afield, for support following a suicide. It was always the intention of Horizons to help people through their grief by being in the company of others who had a similar experience.”

The A.G.M. will take place at Trinity Methodist Halls (off Knockmore Road) and a number of local elected representatives, including MLAs, hope to attend.

Anyone affected by suicide can confidentially call a Horizons helpline on 07724497946.
