New Mayor can'twait for Jamm

New Mayor Hilary McClintock says she's looking forward to Summer Jamm, which will be headlined by country star Lisa McHugh in Strabane over Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12.

Top names Ritchie Remo, Jim Devine, Alanna Quinn, David James and Jordan Devine will also be performing.

“Summer Jamm is a wonderful family event and it’s great to see the programme going from strength to strength. As one of my first engagements in my new official role as Mayor, it’s the perfect opportunity to meet citizens from the Strabane area and get to know them. I hope to become a familiar face in the town over the coming months, and I know there will be plenty more opportunities to hear from people what their priorities are for the area.

“I would ask everyone to turn out to support the event, the programme offers something for all ages. And I would ask for co-operation with marshals and event organisers over the course of the weekend to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone.”

Throughout Saturday there will also be plenty of entertainment for younger country fans with street stalls, animation, Zorbing, Circus Workshop, Kite Making Workshop, Willow Weaving, Kidz Farm, Bungee Jump, Kids Carousel, Balloon Modelling and much more.

Council Events Officer Liz Cunningham said the final preparations for the event are now being put in place. “Summer Jamm is one of the events which I really look forward to working on. It has such a brilliant family friendly vibe and has such support from the local community. The country fest theme will be a great draw this year and we’re delighted to have such a brilliant music line up for the weekend. It’s going to be a fantastic two days of entertainment.”

On Saturday most of the activity will be taking place in and around Butcher Street Car Park, Castle Street and Main Street from 1pm – 5.30pm. On Sunday the entertainment moves to the Score Site from 3pm – 7.30pm where Lisa McHugh and Ritchie Remo will be entertaining the crowds.
