Mid-Ulster BB parade and services

The Annual Church Parade and Services of the Mid-Ulster Battalion of the Boys' Brigade will be hosted this year by the 1st Moneymore Company in the South Londonderry village on Palm Sunday, April 9.

The local Company look forward to welcoming officers and boys from throughout the Battalion this year to Moneymore.

The Parade will form up at Moneymore Medical Centre, Fair Hill at 2.45pm.

The outward route for the Parade will be Fair Hill, Smith Street to High Street where the parade will proceed along High Street where the Junior Section will turn into Market Street and go to 2nd Moneymore Presbyterian Church for their service which will be conducted by the Rev. John Montgomery.

The Company Section will then continue to Stonard Street where they will attend 1st Moneymore Presbyterian Church for their service to be conducted by the Rev. George McClelland.

The Bands that will lead the parade will be Aughagaskin Flute Band and Crimson Star Accordion Band.

Companies on Parade will be 1st Armagh, 1st Aughnacloy & Ballymagrane, 1st Bellaghy, 1st Caledon, 1st Castlecaulfield, 1st Castledawson, 1st Cookstown, 1st Culnady, 1st Dungannon, 1st Maghera, 1st Magherafelt, 1st Moneymore, 1st Moy, 1st Newmills, 1st Stewartstown and 1st Tobermore.

The return parade will be approximately at 4.30pm where the Junior Section will form up outside 2nd Moneymore Presbyterian Church and parade along Circular Road and up Conyngham Street to wait for the Company Section to parade up Stonard Street.

The Junior Section will then fall in behind Company Section and the parade will proceed back along High Street where the Salute will be taken by Mr Jim Thornberry, Battalion President, together with other Battalion Officials and then continue along Smith Street to the Fair Hill for dispersal.

It is anticipated that many will attend and support the Boys’ Brigade on this special day for the Battalion.

The Boys’ Brigade was the first voluntary uniformed youth movement in the world and many of today’s organisations for young people can trace their roots back through history to The Boys’ Brigade.

The Boys’ Brigade was founded in Glasgow in 1883. From this one Company formed in Scotland the BB has grown in to a worldwide movement.
