“I would like to congratulate Eoghan Rua on winning the Ulster junior hurling title and making history history after defeating Ballela to become the first Derry club to win a provincial title. Congratulations too go to Loughgiel camogie who retained their Ulster title beating Slaughneil.

“I am also extremely proud of my local team Ruairi Ogs who have brought the Ulster title back to the dall again. It was a fantastic game of hurling that could have gone either way.

Sport is such an important part of everyday life and I am sure councillors from all parties will be proud of the success of our young people on the sports field.”
