Jon all set for Olympic torch experience

JON Paul Devlin a year 8 pupil in St Colm’s High School Draperstown has been selected to carry the Olympic Torch in Ballycastle on Sunday 3rd June. He is one of the privileged ‘212’ twelve year old pupils, throughout the UK, who have been given this fabulous opportunity.

Mrs Roisin McKenna Principal of St Colm’s said, “It is a great honour for the school to be involved in such a momentous occasion. From his first day in St Colm’s Jon Paul identified himself as a remarkable young man. He excelled during our induction/team building day.

“He displayed qualities of mutual respect, friendship, kindness and empathy with his new classmates. He is often the first to volunteer to help with any activity both inside and outside the classroom. He always has a smile and a pleasant word for all.”

All Year 8 pupils in St Colm’s will join in the celebrations organised by Magherafelt District Council on Wednesday and Thursday (June 6-7) when the torch comes to Magherafelt.
