Jim retires after 'tremendous contribution'

A BALLYMONEY Borough Council worker has retired after a staggering 33 years of service.

Influential in the development of the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney Riverside Park and latterly Riada Stadium, Jim Graham (pictured) left his post as Head of Amenities at the end of April.

Another highlight of Jim’s dedicated work included the recreational developments in the rural hinterland of the borough, including sports grounds and childrens play facilities.

Speaking during a recent Leisure and Amenities Committee meeting, the Director Mr John Michael paid tribute to the tremendous contribution Jim had made over the 33 years to both Council and the people of Ballymoney.

He continued: “I would like to make reference to Jim’s role in delivering the considerable leisure infrastructure both within Ballymoney town and its rural hinterland which Council had provided.

“Jim was influential in the development of the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney Riverside Park and latterly Riada Stadium, together with the Council’s comprehensive play and sports ground provision.”

In response Alderman Harry Connolly wholly endorsed the Director’s comments and also emphasised that Jim’s outstanding service and the number of projects with which he had been involved ought to be noted.
