The defendant, who is the son of this person, became involved. After he threw a punch he was arrested for assault on police and taken to the station where he kicked out at the window of a police car.

When interviewed Holding denied striking the officer. A solicitor for the defendant said he was genuinely embarrassed by his actions.

He added that it was an alcohol induced incident.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said that reading the constable’s statement it was ‘fairly unedifying’. He added that Holding had said ‘think I’m scared of that uniform’ and ‘I’ll kick you up and down the street’. CS gas also had to be used.
