Green light for Larne Lough gas storage site

Environment Minister Alex Attwood today (Thursday) gave planning approval to construct a £400 million subsea natural gas storage facility a mile beneath Larne Lough.

The development will allow for the storage of 500 million cubic metres of natural gas in caverns beneath the lough.

Around 200 construction jobs and 30 operational posts will be created.
