Good relations scheme launched

Lisburn City Council as part of its Good Relations Programme has launched a schedule of free events and courses for 2013/2014.

The range of events and courses are aimed at promoting a greater understanding of our history and an awareness of our differing cultures.

Chairman of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, Alderman Paul Porter, said: “There are a wide range of issues covered in the offering of courses and events, including transition from conflict, the Holocaust, the Civil Rights Movement in America and the exploration of the institutions in today’s society.

I would encourage anyone with an interest in history to pick up a ‘Journey in Good Relations’ brochure from any of the Council facilities for more details, or to view the information online at the Council’s website.

All events and courses are free and open to the public and schools. There is something to suit everyone.”

The Good Relations programme receives financial support from the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) and is committed to building effective relationships among citizens.
