Fun, fun, fun at Cloughmills

From 1pm until 3pm, the car park behind Patton’s Bar was transformed for a host of events for everyone, including the highlight, an Easter Egg Hunt, as well as Easter Crafts from around the World, races, competitions and also much needed refreshments for all.

Chairman of CCAT, Patrick Frew described the event as a resounding success.

He said: “The Easter Event is the first we have organized since our area was included in the Building Relations in Communities project (BRIC) and I am delighted that it was such a resounding success, a springboard for future community driven initiatives in Cloughmills.

“The BRIC project is all about promoting good relations and community cohesion in social housing areas and the response we got on Saturday from local people was really encouraging. The CCAT has been working in, and for the benefit of, this community and as part of BRIC we now have additional support and expertise from the Housing Executive to help us achieve our goals.

“I want to thank everyone in the Association and in the community who worked to ensure our Easter event was a success. “I also want to acknowledge and thank Chris Davis, the Housing Executive’s Good Relations Officer in the North East Area, for her help and advice in this.”

Referring to the event in Cloughmills, Chris Davis said: “It was great to see so many people, across the generations, taking part in the Easter event at Cloughmills.

“The Housing Executive is committed to embedding good relations in every part of its work, encouraging local people to promote neighbourliness and inclusivity in all aspects of community life. The BRIC project, with the help of EU Peace III funding, through a training programme, is empowering us to do so.

“The Easter event at Cloughmills was a practical example of local people coming together to share in fun and enjoyment and by doing so, playing their part in community life. I also want to pay tribute to the hard work of CCAT, not only in organizing the Easter event but for their ongoing dedication to strengthening community spirit in Cloughmills.”
