Road work welcomed

SINN Féin Councillor Mairead O’Dowd has welcomed the start of work to a Traffic Calming Scheme for the Derrymacash Village area.

Cllr O’Dowd noted that Roads Services have had this scheme in the pipeline for some time and she affirmed that it was the result of a lobbying campaign orchestrated by the local community.

Mairead said: “Following numerous accidents and several fatalities within the village the local residents contacted Sinn Féin about the excessive speed of traffic travelling through the area. The local community prepared a petition requesting a Traffic Calming Scheme as a means of slowing traffic and increasing safety levels and Sinn Féin gladly lent their support to this campaign.”
